Horizons Foundation

A regranting initiative to provide core support and capacity building to small and midsize organizations serving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities of color in the Bay Area.

The Horizons Foundation serves the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community by making grants, strengthening LGBT organizations and leadership, and increasing philanthropic giving. Horizons has a long record of working with organizations serving LGBT communities of color in the Bay Area and launched its People of Color Initiative to Build Leadership and Effectiveness (POCIBLE) in early 2009.

Program Details:
Horizons will provide up to 8 organizations with multi-year capacity building grants. Each organization will receive $10,000 to $20,000 of support, depending on the size of the organization and capacity-building aspirations. Selected organizations will also receive technical assistance involving:

Selection process:
To be eligible for a POCIBLE grant, a majority of the applicant organization’s board, staff, and population served must be people of color. Outreach to organizations serving communities of color occurred for POCIBLE grants though existing Horizons Foundation networks and additional contacts from the POCIBLE advisory committee.

Application Deadline:
The application process is now closed and the recipients of CLP regranting funds have been selected.
