National Community Development Institute

The National Community Development Institute (NCDI) is a nonprofit intermediary organization with the mission to build capacity for social change in communities of color and other marginalized communities.

Through the Community Leadership Project, the National Community Development Institute is conducting six peer-to-peer group trainings and providing one-on-one technical assistance to up to eight organizations on the Peninsula and Central Coast. The focus is on strengthening management, program and leadership capabilities.

Regions Served: Greater San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast
San Mateo, Santa Clara, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties

Program Details:
One year into the project, the National Community Development Institute has recruited and selected 12 leaders from seven organizations; conducted an initial peer exchange; completed five of seven individual technical assistance plans; and begun implementation of one of the technical assistance plans.

The one-on-one technical assistance provided by NCDI is guided by the development of technical assistance plans for each participating organization. Technical assistance plans are co-designed by each organization’s executive director and NCDI staff, and then presented to the boards of each organization to gain input and buy-in on capacity-building processes and outcomes.
