The Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment
The Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment supports grassroots initiatives to inspire community action to protect the environment, consumers and the public’s health. It engages in education, advocacy and grantmaking that emphasize increasing community participation in civic life.
Through the Community Leadership Project, The Rose Foundation is providing core operating support and capacity-building grants to eight small and midsize environmental health and justice organizations.
Regions Served: Greater San Francisco Bay Area, Central Coast and San Joaquin Valley
Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Solano, Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tulare counties
Total Award: $320,000
Program Details:
The Rose Foundation’s eight grantees will each receive an average of $20,000 of core support over three years. Foundation staff developed an organizational assessment tool, and met with each grantee to develop a technical assistance plan. The Rose Foundation is creating a capacity-building plan that will be supported by two-year grants, allowing each grantee organization to hire a technical assistant consultant and to engage in other training opportunities to increase capacity.
